When welcoming the judgement on leadership delivered on the 14th December, delivered in the Johannesburg Labour Court, we made a commitment that we would be challenging attempts by individuals from both within our ranks and outside to liquidate the union for reasons only known to them.
Today the South Gauteng High Court rescinded the earlier temporary liquidation of the union which was delivered without having have afforded us an opportunity to represent ourselves as a result of deliberate sabotage from employees who resume to work with or accept that there are now new leadership in the union.
We remain committed to ensuring that we have good relations with our service providers and as such will always ensure that all legitimate invoices are paid on time and those which we suspect have been cooked will always be subjected to scrutiny.
Our detractors will not deviate our focus and mission of ensuring that we return this union to financial stability, a situation which we unfortunately inherited. We will however not complain about this because we know that we are here selflessly to ensure that we advance the working class struggle, particularly in the local government sector.
We are ending this year on a high note and fully hope that the next year will have only great things for SAMWU so we can continue with championing the interests of our members across all municipalities, entities and water boards.
