Limpopo Municipality involved in criminal activity

SAMWU PRESS STATEMENT
27 July 2010

SAMWU in the Limpopo Province has learnt with dismay that the Sekhukhune District Municipality has authorized and allowed the illegal payment of salary to Mr Moswane France , even though he has not worked for the Municipality for more than a year.

As the Largest Local Government Union we view the above as criminal. The Sekhukhune Municipality has been involved in a number of corrupt activities in the recent past.

We will closely observe the process the Municipality has embarked on, to fraudulently pay Moswane ratepayers money, we will also be investigating those who authorized these illegal payments; those who authorized the payments must be held accountable and must be subjected to the full extent of the law.

Corrupt individuals that bring Municipalities to their knees should be removed! As SAMWU we will continue to fight corruption and Maladministration, to seek a resolve and rectify the many wrongs being committed in Sekhukhune and the Limpopo Province.

We have said it before and we will say it again; we will not hesitate to take to the streets with our Federation COSATU to stamp out corruption!

For further comment contact SAMWU’s Provincial Secretary Alfred Sithole on 072 159 6495 or the Provincial Chairperson Manthata Mamaile on 073 941 3595
